Environmental, Operations and Construction (EOC) operates within HDR’s Federal Business Group, capable of delivering services across all HDR business groups at any location. Our work is performed by our professional staff, scientists and engineers at remote sites, embedded in client office space or our own facilities. EOC delivers quality engineering, environmental, and construction management services at competitive prices.

In the role of Junior Geophysicist, we'll count on you to:

Manage and execute engineering geophysics projects both field and office in support of various clients (e.g., transportation, oil and gas, water resources, environmental, etc.). Support proposal development efforts and contribute to the expansion of HDR's Engineering Geophysics capabilities.

Project Support

Geophysical projects involving, Utilities, Seismic, Electro-magnetics, Magnetics, GPR as they come available, this could include field work, data processing and reportingSampling projects local to Colorado, training will be provide by members of the sampling teamPothole oversight for Utility projects, training will be provide by members of the geophysical teamPrimarily a field position, expect 95-100% fieldwork

Administration

Communicate working schedule if outside of the normal hours of 8am to 5pmNot expected to be in the office when not in the field, expected to be online (WebEx) and available when not in the officeWork on site with data collection during the execution of munitions response projects in support of HDR's Program Manager and Project ManagersTravel to support HDR projects and support Project Managers with planning and reporting before and after project executionWork on engineering geophysics projects as necessaryHandle the following support activities: data collection, data processing, work planning, reports, equipment logs, field forms, check lists, daily reports and associated tasks/documentsCommunicate any geophysical project issues and concerns to management and support the development of solutionsInterpret seismic data utilizing advanced geophysical techniquesWork in a collaborative environment with an integrated team of geoscientists, engineers and negotiatorsAssist with the planning, supervision and quality control of the acquisition and processing of geophysical dataComplete integrated interpretations of geophysical, geological and well data to define prospective areas, to position exploratory well locations and to define areas for further exploratory effortTake on projects and tasks as assigned by managementWork includes travel out of state and ability to travel with overnight stays are important. No restrictions with working on Federal facilities. Travel duration 1-3 weeks at a timeWill report to the HDR Englewood office and most local fieldwork will include picking up equipment and/or other team members therePerform other duties as assignedPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree1-3 years of post-grad experience, with a mix of field and office work, good communication skills, problem solving and troubleshootingProficient in applicability, field implementation, and data analysis of various geophysical methods, including: Ground Penetrating Radar, Electromagnetics, Magnetics, Utility locating, seismic, resistivity, and borehole methods are a plusKnowledge of SUE Data Collection on DOD facilitiesFamiliar with the use of the Radio Detection Utility Locator (models 8700RX, 8900RX, T10 TX) and Trimble Catalyst R2 VRS GPS for the use on SUE investigationFamiliar with ArcGIS On-Line (AGOL) to drawn utility lines, QC field work and planning field workFamiliar with Trimble Mobile Manager (TMM), ArcGIS Field Maps (Android and IOS) for field data collection with the Trimble Catalyst DA2Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Geophysics or closely related field Minimum of 1 year of industry experience Technical understanding of exploration geophysics Experience with Oasis montaj Geosoft Geophysical Data Analysis software and Matlab Computational Software An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) Colorado: $61,908 - $88,440.
