The Economics Department at Johns Hopkins University is looking to hire a Professional Teaching Assistant for a full-time Junior Lecturer position with benefits. The person hired would act as a Teaching Assistant for up to four courses in Economics in spring 2025, which would include teaching a section or two of an Elements class. The Junior Lecturer could also be asked to do advising, which would be a course release. Minimum qualifications: Bachelors in Economics. Some experience as a teaching assistant or tutoring undergraduates is expected. Familiarity with Johns Hopkins Economics courses is a plus. This position is for one semester, but renewable contingent upon performance and/or availability of funds. Instructional and administrative responsibilities of the position include: - Possibility of leading sections of course(s) as a Teaching Assistant. - Possibility of acting as Academic Advisor to Economics majors or minors. The salary will be $17,500 from January 1, 2025 to May 31, 2025. The referenced salary is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will be based on factors including, but not limited to, the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate - e.g., years in rank, training, field, discipline, other work experience, and other similar factors; geographic location; internal equity; external market conditions; and other factors as reasonably determined by the University.
