The legal function at MacGregor serves the entire group, providing a unique opportunity to be part of a truly international organization with global revenues exceeding €700 million. Currently, our legal team comprises five mainly senior lawyers operating from various locations. The team works closely together while allowing for individual autonomy in task execution. This role reports directly to the Head of Legal.
As a Junior Legal Counsel, you'll support in data privacy matters, procurement contracting, and company data management. With experience, other areas of responsibility can also be taken on. You'll work closely with other members of the legal team, and also represent the legal function in our GDPR team and serve as the first point of contact for our indirect procurement and supply chain management teams.
We are looking for someone who can build strong relationships with key stakeholders, providing them with informed legal guidance. The ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively is highly valued. This position is located at our office in Kaarina (Finland).
Main tasks and responsibilities
Acts as the dedicated legal advisor in matters concerning data privacy and procurement.
Participates in the customer interface: Conducts DPA and other data privacy related contract reviews and negotiations with customers.
Participates in the vendor interface: Conducts contract reviews and negotiations of procurement contracts.
Serves as the primary point of contact for the company administration related matters, ensuring that the company data in MacGregor subsidiaries is up to date. Prepares Powers of Attorneys, Minutes of Board meetings, arranges notarizations and takes care of other needed corporate documentation.
Assists in other corporate legal matters if needed, such as in customer contracting, IPR matters, corporate governance and dispute management.
Acts in line with legal requirements and organizational policies, maintaining a culture of compliance.
What you’ll need to succeed
Education
Master ́s degree in law (OTM, LLM, or equivalent).
Experience
Job experience at a law firm or in-house up to three years is preferable but not mandatory if other merits justify an exception.
Some experience in data privacy matters.
Competencies
Strong potential or verified understanding of commercial contracting, international business, and a variety of corporate legal matters is considered beneficial. The preferred competency areas are data privacy and procurement contracts such as service contracts, IT contracts and transportation contracts.
Business-minded and practical approach to legal issues.
Ability to communicate legal issues clearly and concisely with senior management and internal stakeholders.
Fluency in written and spoken English, with other language skills being considered as additional merit.
Ability to work independently, take initiative and drive things forward.
Flexibility and ability to work across different time zones and with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
An additional asset
Experience in the maritime industry.
Professional certification eg. CIPP/E Certification.
