Junior Microwave Modem Architect
Nokia
In the context of X-Haul Architecture & Specification team of MN Microwave Business Unit, you will contribute to study and define high level (SW/HW) digital packet radio link architectures and be responsible for feature analysis and technical requirements definition with special focus on Modem Design and Radio architecture solutions, keeping in mind the end-to-end behavior of the whole system.
You have:
Master Science degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Electronic Engineering or equivalentRecently graduated or have up to 2 or fewer years of experienceAbility to analyze complex configurations, mixing different features and scenarios.Knowledge of radio transmission concepts (basic knowledge of equalization, modulation, FEC, clock and carrier recovery, phase noise impairments, adaptive modulation).Knowledge of computation and simulation tools (such as MATLAB/Simulink) for system or algorithm modelling and DSP implementation.Good spoken and written English. It would be nice if you also had:
Understanding of link design parameters and outputs. This includes the basic radio propagation background knowledge.Ability to work independently on specific features with organizational skills in both individual tasks and cross-departmental projects.Knowledge of Radio configurations (Hot-Standby/Frequency Diversity protections, XPIC, Space Diversity, Multichannels, MIMO).Understanding of digital board architectures, microwave technologies and mechanical equipment configurations (such as rack arrangement, filters, couplers, circulators).Knowledge of specific Ethernet oriented features, switching/routing in IP networks. You will define the best and innovative product architectures, meeting product requirements and time to market needs trying also to anticipate market and customer needs. You will work as part of a multi-site multi-cultural R&D team spread over different locations, highly interacting with several function, both inside and outside R&D community. You will work together with people of different technical competence (HW/FW/SW) targeting a joint development with technical milestones and checkpoints till the functional testing, with capability to identify red flags in advance and proactively proposing a technical recovery plan. You will derive from high level product requirements the detailed system feature requirements, driving the development at system level with sound decisions. You will run system simulations to predict product performance and you will verify them in laboratory.
