Hatch is currently seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineering Technologist for our Technologies – Specialized Engineering Group, located in our Mississauga head office, starting January 2025. The Specialized Engineering Group at Hatch provides specialized design of a broad range of custom and proprietary equipment primarily in the mining & metals sector. 

  

Responsibilities:  

 
Under the guidance of experienced engineers and designers, junior designers will participate in the design aspects of custom equipment and new product development.  Candidates will be required to directly apply and develop knowledge in mechanical design which may include:  

  

Modelling and Drafting with Solid Modelling tools such as Solid Edge and MicroStation;  

Production of high-quality mechanical assembly and detail drawings; 

Co-ordinate designs with a multi-disciplinary team including structural, mechanical, electrical, process, and instrumentation and controls;  

Participate in design reviews, and quality checking workflows; 

Contribute to the design and improvement of various types of mechanical equipment and technologies;  

Assist in developing prototypes;  

Become familiar in reviewing fabrication and construction drawings, including international engineering standards;   

Improve their technical communication and report writing skills.  

  

Qualifications:  

  

Graduated from a 3-year college program in Mechanical Engineering Technology;  

Demonstrate strong academic performance;  

Possess good communication and interpersonal skills;  

Have an aptitude for working on multi-disciplinary teams;  

Enjoy taking on new challenges with a commitment to achieving engineering excellence. 

Prior experience in the engineering industry is an asset;  

Registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) is an asset.
