Fixed Income Asset Backed Securities (ABS) & Non-Agency Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities (RMBS) Junior Trader

Now is a great time to join Fixed Income Capital Markets at Baird!  The Securitized Products (SP) Trading desk is looking for an organized, analytical and driven professional to join the team as a junior trader. 

As a junior trader, you will play a crucial role on our team in a fast-paced trading environment. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and detail-oriented individual who is looking to further their career in the financial industry on an established trading platform. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong interest in fixed income trading and a desire to learn and grow. A background in finance, economics, accounting, computer science or related fields is preferred, along with excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.  Some fixed income trading desk experience is preferred, and FINRA SIE, 7 and 63 licenses.

As a Fixed Income ABS & Non-Agency RMBS Junior Trader, you will:

Work directly with ABS and non-agency RMBS trading desks to find new trading opportunities and expand Baird’s trading capacity.

Monitor market trends and assist with trade execution and settlement processes.

Monitor macro-economic trends and analyze data to identify potential trading opportunities.

Conduct research and analysis to support trading strategies and decision-making.

Collaborate with team members to develop and implement new trading strategies.

Assist finance in ongoing (daily/monthly) profit and loss (P&L) reconciliations.

Stay updated on industry and regulatory developments.

Develop and maintain relationships with sales associates across the Baird platform.

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and uphold ethical standards at all times.

Utilize systems including Bloomberg, Salesforce, Big Dough, Microsoft Excel, Yieldbook and Intex.

What we look for:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or Computer Science is ideal, but not required.

FINRA licensed (SIE, 7 and 63).

A minimum of 2-5 years of professional experience.

Excellent communication skills and possessing a team player approach.  Willingness and ability to work additional hours as needed to ensure work is completed in a timely fashion.  Attention to detail and a positive “can-do” attitude are a must.

Expert Microsoft Excel skills.  Have an understanding of standard industry tools (i.e., Bloomberg and Intex).

Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously, often under pressure and/or short deadlines.

Compensation Information:

$100,000 - $110,000 annual salary*

Bonus potential annually*

*Compensation and bonus are commensurate with experience, performance, and/or office profitability
