Junior UAS Surveillance Technician

This job posting is for a position in the ROC Surveillance Section and is open to all Bargaining Unit employees deemed qualified, as determined by the Company, to perform the duties of “Junior UAS Surveillance Technician” Position Requirements: The successful candidate shall possess at a minimum the following qualifications: · Combined education and work experience for a total of three years (E.g., Complete a two-year degree and military service) · Possession of or the ability to obtain a FAA part 107 Remote Pilot certification (UAS / Drone license) · The ability to provide real-time coordination with controlling agencies (FAA / NASA etc.). · Proficiency in basic meteorology · Proficiency in basic air navigation · Proficiency in general air traffic control and communications procedures · Proficiency in the types and uses of aid to air navigation · Proficiency in regulations governing air traffic. · Knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot Aircraft Surveillance Radar systems. · Ability to speak clearly and concisely over VHF and UHF radios to ships and aircraft. · Previous experience with RF systems, such as air and sea surveillance radars and IFF systems · Familiarity with PC operation and possesses demonstrable skills. · Demonstrates mathematical skill necessary to perform basic algebraic skills. · The ability to work under stress associated with rigid time demands and at times support missions outside of normal working hours. · Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance. · Candidate must obtain a NASA tower climbing certificate and will be expected to climb towers up to 160ft. Desired: · Possession of a General Radio Operators License a plus · Knowledge of maritime and aircraft environments is a plus. · Cable crimp and harness training is a plus. · Electro-Static Discharge Operator license is a plus. · Private pilot’s license or current / previous FAA certified ATC skills a plus. Note: This position does not require piloting of actual aircrafts or UAS. Safety and quality awareness and compliance are required. Shift work may be required. Assignments may change or vary.
