GovCIO is currently hiring for a Junior UI/UX developer to support design and development activities for a program with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This role will be part of a larger development and modernization effort for the Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). This will be on-site in Tysons Corner, VA with the opportunity for occasional remote work.
Responsibilities Work within an agile development team on both design and development functionalityDevelop and maintain responsive, accessible, high performing UI’s using React and Single Spa.Implement functional UI/UX designs while ensuring cross-browser compatibility and responsivenessImplement use of CSS and UI component libraries (example, Bootstrap, Trussworks, etc) to enhance and standardize user interfaces within organizationOptimize applications while ensuring 508 compliance and adherence to WCAG standards (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines)Able to work independently and in collaboration with designers, managers, engineers to meet business requirements and deadlinesKeep current with front end technologies and best practicesIdentify, troubleshoot and resolve UI/UX issuesSVG manipulation and/or creation as needed QualificationsRequired Skills and Experience
US CitizenshipBachelor’s degree, with experience as a Front-End Engineer/UI DeveloperAt least 2 years of related experience in a development environmentProficient with CSSExperience with HTML, JavaScriptExperience with frontend frameworks, preferably ReactExperience with UI component libraries (Material UI, Bootstrap, Trussworks, etc.)Understanding of responsive design principles and accessibility standardsExperience working with REST api’s and JSON structureDetail Oriented and strong ability to problem solveAble to work independently and collaboratively in Agile environmentsClearance: Must have the ability to obtain a DHS Public Trust

Posted Pay Range
The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
