Description We are looking for a qualified Juris Doctor or Junior Attorney to take on a key role in contract management and legal support, initially focusing on: + Contract Review & Negotiation: Analyzing and negotiating company contracts—including construction agreements, purchase orders, service contracts, and tiered subcontracts—to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, corporate policies, and project requirements. + Risk Assessment: Identifying potential risks and issues in bid and contract terms. + Contract Management: Maintaining a comprehensive contract database and tracking agreement expiration dates. + Team Support: Providing guidance to non-attorney staff on contract management tasks. + Proposal & Bid Assistance: Collaborating with Business Development and Estimating teams to review bid documents and prepare proposals. + Dispute Resolution Support: Assisting with contract dispute resolution, including analysis, drafting claims or responses, and supporting litigation management. + Process Improvement: Contributing to the development and enhancement of departmental procedures. Future Responsibilities: With proven performance, this role may expand to include: + Leading the department’s contract management operations. + Overseeing claims support functions within the department. + Managing corporate licensing and registration processes. + Assisting with acquisitions and strategic business transactions. The role is based out of Columbia, MD and in-person is preferred, but we would consider remote candidates who are qualified. Requirements Qualifications: + Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree. + Experience: 6-10 years of experience in drafting and negotiating contracts common in the construction industry, including owner contracts, subcontracts, engineering services agreements, consulting agreements, teaming agreements, and experience with construction litigation or claims resolution. + Skills: Working knowledge of commercial insurance practices in the construction industry is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is required.
