This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly visible team working on new and exciting initiatives at Schwab. As a Kafka expert, you will be responsible for working within a scrum team to scale and enhance platform resiliency and availability, automation test suites, build supporting applications, optimize operational process and to support business critical projects.

Interpret written requirements and technical specifications Develop software based on the technical specificationsBuild, enhance and maintain high performing Kafka clustersManage cluster upgrades, scaling, and security configurationsReview and optimize client application configuration and architectureProvide technical guidance and best practices to support teams for Kafka implementationDevelop and support Kafka Client onboarding processProficient in troubleshooting Kafka-related issuesPerform maintenance of software and correct defects that have been identifiedMonitor and optimize Kafka health and performance metrics  Run unit tests, implement test plans, test harnesses and document test resultsDefine standard and processes automating repetitive tasks for efficiencyMaintain comprehensive technical and non-technical documentation Ability to lead the triage sessions with multiple tenants Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently as well as effectively cooperate well with others

What you have
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field is required6+ years of hands-on software development in high performance, high availability, scalability, and distributed applications.  3+ years of Kafka administration experience, including Confluent Kafka CloudStrong knowledge of Kafka architecture and internals, including Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, Zookeeper, KRaft and Kafka Control CenterExperience with Confluent Kafka installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshootingKnowledge on Kafka Cluster stability, performance optimization, memory management, securityExperience in Cloud Foundry, GCP, AWS or other relevant Cloud infrastructureFamiliarity with Kubernetes (EKS), TerraformSignificant experience with Unix systems, able to understand intricacies between different flavors of LinuxSignificant experience with salt and writing salt states or other automation toolSystem admin experience preferredExperience in Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment methodologies, including test automation and metricsExperience in an Agile tools and methodologiesExcellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills requiredExperience with API development and REST services is preferred

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
