Key Account Manager DACH

For our international client, a producer of engines for lawn and garden, turf care, and job site power equipment we are currently looking for a Key Account Manager DACH.  The position is responsible for about 50% of the DACH engine sales, amounting to USD 5.6 million, with approximately 30% of that in residential sales.
In this role, you will focus on increasing sales by cultivating relationships with key customers and exploring new market opportunities. You will develop effective customer strategies to meet the company's financial goals while representing both the organization’s strategic objectives and the interests of key accounts.
Following a significant year-on-year decline in engine business in 2024, a primary objective will be to identify and realize new sales potentials in both the engine and battery markets, providing technical consultation and support regarding engine and battery selection and installation. Additionally, you will assist the battery business development team and follow up on sales and customer care activities.
For your approximately 120 active customers in regions north of the River Main, including East Germany, you will be responsible for:

Maintaining customer relationships and placements. Ensuring new engine and battery placements within the existing customer base. Providing technical consultation and support on engine selection and installation. Driving sales and gross margin growth. Monitoring market trends and competition.

Responsibilities
 

Manage key accounts to achieve strategic goals through sales calls and developing account-level business plans. Negotiate policies and implement them internally while ensuring effective communication. Collaborate with Product Management to develop new product features and benefits to gain competitive advantages in the marketplace, and implement plans for new products within the assigned customer base. Recommend sales promotions to the marketing department and develop product merchandising strategies. Analyze sales and market trends to formulate policies, promote sales, and assess customer needs and pricing schedules. Manage account-level P&L to maximize sales volume and profitability. Report sales activity to upper management. Provide guidance to other sales team members to help secure new business.

Profile

 

Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales or a related field. Proven strategic acumen. Ability to develop, forecast, and manage budgets. Capability to translate corporate commercial strategy and goals into regional and actionable sales initiatives. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong presentation and negotiation skills. Fluent in English and German; knowledge of additional languages is a plus. Strong business acumen, ideally supported by a higher-level qualification in business or a related field.
