Key Account Manager (Utilities)

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Account Management

People, Program, Price, Performance (KPI’s).  Account retention and organic growth. 

Business Alignment & Development

Developing and or redeploying target prospects as part of the ongoing route-to-market strategy and making contact, developing and coordinating cradle-to-gate interactions on opportunities either internal (cross-divisional selling) and or external (utilising and streamlining existing distributor, trader, partner relationships).

Responsible Care, Environment, Health & Safety

To follow all EHS policies and proceduresTo follow all environmental policies and proceduresTo report all accidents, incidents and near misses to their supervisorPromote Responsible Care principlesParticipate in training as requiredParticipate in consultation on all EH&S related mattersMaintain hygiene at all times

People

This position requires cooperation and planning with business management, commercial, technical, financial & administration, and equipment as well as account managers and service technicians in the field to ensure that the needs of the business and customers are consistently met.

The incumbent is expected to use his/her experience and industry knowledge to provide day to day leadership of the people working in Southern Africa on commercial and technical functional areas.

Communications

One on one inter-relationship and cooperation with all field staff.Minimum monthly reports, weekly telecons (Sales Meetings) as required with business managersReports and documentation as required.

Specific Accountabilities

Maintaining the highest safety standards to ensure there are no incidents or accidents in the working environmentTargeting new business opportunities within the Utilities sectors, specifically in Southern AfricaAccount retention by developing and maintaining ongoing relationships with Key Decision Makers and managing the required communication protocols at customer sites with the key people.Pursuing growth and developing new applications and opportunities on new and existing customers sitesManaging existing accounts as allocated ensuring satisfaction and ongoing profitability by professional and effective account management processes and skills designed to deliver and exceed customer expectations and adding valueManaging prospects effectively and making contacts within the allocated targets and markets.  Working with support groups to establish, maintain and prioritize an accurate and current prospect list.Providing professional on site service work to customers including water analysis and testing as required, ensuring water treatment programs are controlled according to design parameters and that performance criteria is strictly monitored and achievedWorking with other team members and resource groups as necessary to ensure that customer deliverables are met and maintained

Person Specification

Should have technical/scientific/industry related tertiary qualificationsMust be confident in working for long periods unsupervisedMust be able to meet deadlinesMust be an effective and confident communicatorMust be able to sell and close business opportunitiesMust have 5-10 years Utilities Water Treatment experiencePlus to have 5 years related industry experience (Ideally in water disinfection)Regional language proficienciesMust be fully computer literate, i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etcShould have experience and understanding of industrial processesShould have experience and understanding of industrial engineering processes relating to cooling and steam processes
