Key Accounts Manager

The purpose of this role is to grow Pearson's market share and revenue in the academic sector, reporting to the Head of Sales and working closely with the Account Management team. The successful incumbent will require a thorough working knowledge of the South African academic sector, the broader Pearson Education global strategy and critical developments and innovations within the global education realm. 

 

Deliver strong financial performance 

Driving profitable growth and increasing market share for respective territory.  Identify key accounts in your respective territory and map out sales plans and targets with the support of the Head of Sales.  Executing the sales strategy with the support of the Head of Sales, focusing on profitable growth and customer satisfaction.  Promote and position Pearson as a market leader in Higher Education products and solutions.  Identifying new marketspaces and market disruptions in private and public sectors across the respective territory with a focus on obtaining and maintaining sustainable market share and long-term growth in line with operating income and revenue targets.  Proactively detect and create revenue-generating opportunities. 

 

Stakeholder management 

Engaging, collaborating, and leveraging the learnings of key colleagues to ensure the regional strategy and landscape is understood and aligned.  Developing and driving partnerships with key stakeholders such as agencies, government officials and corporates, to ensure that Pearson is viewed as a trusted partner in Higher Education across the territory.  Ensuring personal and brand credibility in the marketplace through regular interaction with stakeholders and customers, focussing on building the Pearson brand across the territory and providing relevant educational products and solutions that exceed expectations.  Positioning Pearson across the territory as a thought leader in Higher Education and lobbying institutions where necessary to see the benefits of the Pearson portfolio of products and services. 

 

Market intelligence and new opportunities 

Identifying and facilitating new product and service innovation, using an agile approach and market insights to position Pearson as a leader in Higher Education in the territory.  Presenting and facilitating the implementation of all new business projects across the territory, while ensuring the ongoing monitoring and reporting of opportunities, risks and progress against plan, understanding that leadership alignment is mandatory.  Representing Pearson at key trade shows across the territory.

Minimum Requirements

A tertiary qualification. A proven track record delivering on revenue sales targets, preferably within an Edtec/Academic/Publishing sales environment. 3-5 years experience in an Account Management role.
