Job Descriptions:
The Blake School seeks to hire an imaginative, caring and talented educator to lead a kindergarten classroom beginning in the 2025-26 school year. Blake’s kindergarten is a Reggio-inspired program emphasizing inquiry-based learning, reflective teaching, emergent curriculum and documentation of children’s learning. The Early Learning Center (ELC) is the first of its kind in the Twin Cities. Designed for learners in pre-kindergarten (ages 4-5), kindergarten and first grade, the ELC offers a child-centered program in a green facility designed to spark curiosity, joy and growth. Strong candidates will demonstrate a creative, joyful approach to learning and teaching.
The search committee will begin reviewing applications on February 21 and until the position is filled. Blake will cover the travel and lodging costs for finalist candidates visiting from out of town.
Required Experience:
The ideal candidate will have
+ knowledge of children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical developmental stages
+ ability to work with children, families and colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experiences
+ effective written and oral communication skills to engage with colleagues, parents and community members
+ a Reggio-inspired educational philosophy with expertise in inquiry-based learning and teaching
+ active listening skills centering the thoughts, feelings and ideas of children
+ flexibility, confidence and a sense of humor
+ strong organizational skills; resourceful planning
+ effective classroom management skills
+ deep respect for children and their potential
+ a collaborative working style
+ demonstrated professionalism and professional collegiality
+ a lively intellect and a thoughtful approach to education
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

+ collaborating with the grade-level team and division colleagues to plan and implement an appropriately challenging curriculum in reading/language arts, math, science and social studies
+ promoting academic, social-emotional and physical development of children in individual, small group and whole class settings
+ assessing students using current strategies and tools to inform instruction and give feedback
+ completing progress reports and participating in twice-yearly parent-teacher conferences
+ supervising children during lunch and afternoon carpool
+ integrating meaningful and appropriate use of technology within the curriculum and as a communication tool
+ participation in admissions events
+ attending Back-to-School Night, admissions open house, faculty workshop days, grade-level and division meetings, relevant all-school events and all mandatory professional development
Application Requirements
+ A bachelor’s degree (master’s degree and teaching credential preferred)
+ 3+ years experience leading a lower elementary classroom
