Overview

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the supervision and delegation of the Cook:Prepares nutritional and appealing meals according to menus.  Prepares special meals as needed for picnics, Special Olympics, birthdays, holidays, parties, off-grounds activities and executive lunches.  Follows recipes and cooking instructions to produce the correct amount of food per forecast for reach meal.Reviews menus daily, looking ahead for future necessities (such as taking out meat for the following day).Maintains current knowledge on Student Food Allergy list, changes to clients’ diets, and the admissions, discharges, and transfers of students. Stays current on gluten free, dairy free, and PW special meal plans. Utilizes resident placement list and classroom placement list as necessary.  Familiarizes self with off grounds, breakfast, lunch items, classroom snacks, and night snacks.  Portions food appropriately.  Adheres to meal serving times.Completes daily production record, temperature monitoring charts, and chemical monitoring charts.  Achieves and maintains Serv Safe food handler certification and follows all policies and procedures outlined in the HACCP Food Safety Plan including but not limited to proper glove use, handwashing, preparation and handling of cold and hot foods, storage of food, dating and labeling food, and reheating food.Cleans and sanitizes meal carts, food preparation surfaces, equipment, and serving line after each use.  Maintains the cleanliness of the kitchen, storage area floors, and kitchen restroom.  Ensures the kitchen, storeroom, cooler, and freezer are kept neat and orderly.  Washes dishes by hand or by using a commercial dishwasher.Puts away food deliveries and completes daily checklist of assigned job tasks.  Assists others where time permits to complete their job tasks.Maintains abreast of current trends in food preparation and food safety and other related areas and training as needed. Conducts self in positive, respectful and collaborative manner demonstrating proactive actions and decision making that foster supportive work relationships and a healthy and safe environment.  Communicates effectively verbally and in writing with internal and external customers maintaining professional conduct and confidentiality. Complies with and positively reinforces with others the expectations outlined in: Company Handbook; policies and procedures including emergency/disaster procedures, fire/tornado safety and maintains confidentiality.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

·High school diploma or equivalent required.

·Serv Safe food handler certification preferred or required within probationary period to be paid at the cost of the Company.

·1 year of experience food preparation and serving, as well as operating kitchen equipment in a commercial setting preferred. 

Additional Information

Pay rate: $15.25/hour starting
