Position Summary

Under direct supervision of the Chief Steward assists as a leader in the overall custodial functions and cleanliness of the Resort kitchens, dining areas, lounge and related facilities, including heavy cleaning, in accordance with management directives.

 Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Under supervision, directs, leads and evaluates work assigned to Kitchen/Dining Custodial personnel. Under supervision, oversees kitchen/dining custodial duties: cleaning of ovens, stoves, floors, walls, doors, trash disposal, buffet bars, tables, chairs, and other duties as assigned.

3.    Under supervision, oversees cleaning of Resort and Casino kitchens, specialty restaurants, buffet area, concession area, lounge and roof top lounge and other furnishings.

4.    Assists in maintaining inventory and order of custodial cleaning supplies as required.

5.    Schedules kitchen/dining custodial staff daily cleaning duties when standing in as a supervisor.

6.    Prepare and maintain files, records, reports and related documents in support of housekeeping activities.

7.    Enforces Kitchen Department standard operating procedures when standing in as a supervisor.

8.    Under an emergency evacuation and fire, the ability to control emergency mechanical functions such as turn off/on electric power and gas, when standing in as a supervisor.

9.    Familiarity and ability to adjust Resort & Casino kitchen, dining, lounge areas thermostats.

10.  Sign off and monitor kitchen/dining custodial employees’ time cards for accuracy, when standing in as a supervisor.

11.  Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Ability to supervise and direct the work with others.

2.    Ability to operate heavy cleaning equipment used in the performance of kitchen/dining custodial work.

3.    Ability to prepare Kitchen/Dining Custodial Heavy Cleaning reports.

4.    Knowledge of general safety rules, requirements, procedures, and reporting.

Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good public and employee relations. Ability to maintain overall custodial supplies used in cleaning the Kitchen/dining areas. Ability to administer first aid until the Security Department assumes control Must have good organizational skills.

   Education And Experience

Required:

High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.  Four (4) years of responsible experience in a kitchen/dining custodial work environment may substitute for educational requirements.

License/Certifications/Registrations

Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s license. Must be able to obtain and maintain the required STGC Gaming License Will require a pre-employment and random drug screening.

Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

Kneeling

Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.

Lifting

Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles. Must be able to lift 100 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently and demonstration of this ability required.

Pulling

Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.

Pushing

Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward.

Reaching

Extending hand(s) and arms and leg(s) to reach, pull, carry, lift, twist and rotate in any direction.

Running

May involve running when necessary.

Seeing

The ability to perceive the nature of objects by the eye.

Walking

Job requirements include, in the performance of duties, walking throughout the work area, on uneven, inclined, hard and soft carpeted floor, cement structures and surfaces.

Sitting

Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Standing

Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Stooping

Duties are performed indoors with certain outdoor activity as required.  Outdoor duties are subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather. Subject to potential hazards such as cleaning solvents and cleaning compounds. Subject to potential hazards such as heights, motorized equipment, and hand tools. Additional potential hazards include exposure to infections, diseases, fumes, odors, dust, mist, and gases. Duties may involve walking, climbing, crawling, standing for long periods of time, sitting, crouching, kneeling, running, and the ability to assume prone position. Work hours subject to change with overtime work required as approved by management. Must be able to work long hours under stressful conditions.
