We are seeking an energetic, skilled Engineering Supervisor for openings in our facility in Ark City, KS.
We operate 24 / 7, 7 days per week.
Hours- 8am-5pm Mon-Fri
Perodic On Call will be required.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Engineering Supervisor utilizes sound engineering principles to plan, manage, own, and execute capital projects that enhance safety, quality, and profitability for the company. Responsibilities include project scoping and design, project management, bid solicitation, managing contractors, and ensuring the successful implementation and completion of projects. This position builds relationships and coordinates closely across departments to ensure accurate planning, scheduling, and financial reporting. Stays abreast of recent technology and developments in the production and packaging environment to best serve the objectives of the organization.
COMPENSATION:
The anticipated compensation range is $72,000 - $82,000/yr.

Responsibilities
Primary Objectives:
+ Review equipment needs with all departments to optimize our performance.
+ Review maintenance needs to provide consistent utilities and structure.
+ Keep abreast of recent technology and equipment upgrades, to recommend innovative ideas.
+ Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, quality control standards, or product design, materials, and parts.
+ Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.
+ Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
+ Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
+ Review product designs for manufacturability or completeness.
+ Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures.
+ Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.
+ Investigate or resolve operational problems, such as material use, variances, or bottlenecks.
+ Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards.
+ Design layout of equipment or workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency.
+ Design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements.
+ Redesign packaging for manufactured products to minimize raw material use or waste.
+ Provide leadership with all projects to achieve the manufacturing, safety & security, quality, and financial goals of KanPak.
Manage Contractors
+ Ensure that all safety policies and procedures are complied with by outside contractors.
+ Obtain proper documentation that the contractor is qualified to do the job at hand.
+ Reviews work with contractors to ensure work is done to specifications and written procedures.
Manage Equipment
+ Design, specify, install, or troubleshoot equipment that meets the requirements of Operations, Sanitation, Food Safety, Maintenance and Safety.
+ Develops designs that utilize standard, off-the-shelf components whenever possible.
+ Ensure that all new equipment is properly guarded, safe to operate, and meets OSHA standards.
+ Reviews equipment needs with vendors and manufacturers to insure performance and proper application.
+ Update building drawings to include any new modifications.
+ Facilitate training and documentation for employees on any new equipment.
Supervise associates
+ Supervise technical and non-technical associates to support capital improvement, process improvement and retrofits.
+ Engage associates to maximize efficiency and effectiveness in daily tasks.
+ Provide training and development as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
+ B.S. degree in an engineering field or equivalent experience.
+ 3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer. Proven ability to plan and manage multiple projects on time and within budget.
+ Exceptional knowledge of design and visualization software such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, etc.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Knowledge of safe design, sanitary design, food processing equipment, and packaging equipment is desired. Familiar with best practices for food manufacturing and procedures.
+ Working knowledge of electrical power, hydraulics, pneumatics, and facility design is desired.
+ Aptitude for working collaboratively with multiple disciplines within teams and projects.
+ Demonstrated analytical skills – ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem.
+ Ability to demonstrate accountability by accepting responsibility and accountability for his/her actions.
+ Conceptual thinking – ability to think in terms of abstract ideas.
