Position: Kubernetes Engineer – Software Product Engineering

Organization Overview:

The Software Product Engineering organization (SPE) delivers innovative tech solutions to aid, accelerate, and support work done across Lilly. This role is targeted for a software engineer who enjoys working with a cross-functional team, developing robust code in support of accelerating scientific processes, and thinking innovatively. She/He will partner with individuals across Lilly SPE and other BU’s to deliver solutions and enable tech supporting a wide range of software and scientific processes. Help design and create technical front-end and back-end solutions that meet the needs of our scientific business areas.

Key Responsibilities & Objectives:

Work as a platform engineer on a team develop and maintain Kubernetes platformsAssist in bridging skillsets and facilitate knowledge sharing across the development team, fostering a cross-functional environment where every team member can effectively contributeUsing problem-solving skills, you will strive to quickly identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs for optimal user experience.Maintain existing clusters and continuous updates, ensuring code quality, organization, and automation.Work in a modern Agile environment to deliver customer value with regular cadence.

Basic Requirements & Experience Expectations:

6+ years of experience in industry performing Kubernetes Platform Engineering.Must Experience and strong knowledge on container technology platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift / Azure Kubernetes / AWS EKS etc is a must require.4-year (bachelors) degree in computer science, software engineering, or similar fieldUnderstanding on Firewall / Load Balancer / Network integration.Experience working with Azure and AWS cloud platform is must. Preferably AWS.Experience with Agile and DevOps development methodologies.Automate our container infrastructure hosted on Cloud.Good to have an experience in implementing Service mesh Administration on Kubernetes platform and hands-on with mesh capabilities.Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk and Grafana.Experience with configuration management systems such as Terraform and Ansible is a must require.Experience working with continuous integration/continuous deployment tools (e.g. GitHub Actions).Develop custom tools as needed to support process optimization, challenging the status-quo and improving operational efficiencyGood to have an experience in GO lang / python.Practical experience with AWS, particularly services like AWS CDK, EC2, IAM, VPC, CFT and Lambda etcGood to have understanding on Redis and ElasticsearchGood to have an understanding on authentication and authorizationUnderstanding of IT life cycle methodology & processes

Additional Skills/Preferences:

.         Previous Pharmaceutical IT experience would an added advantage.

·         Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion

·         Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation skills.

·         Excellent self-management skills. Strong problem-solving skills, Process improvement skills

·         Organization skills, Self-management. Demonstrated ability to evaluate, facilitate, and drive towards risk-based decision making. Proven team player and the ability to work in a dynamic environment, where needs and priorities can change, with compressed deadlines.
