Community Health Systems
**Job Summary**
Performs activities and other tasks as necessary in a laboratory environment. Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanrooms and equipment. Assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials, and ordering and stocking of materials and equipment
**Essential Functions**
+ Assists laboratory staff in routine tests used in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
+ Ensures equipment is in good working order. Understand mechanics of equipment and reports malfunctions to supervisor. Understands safety hazards common to the laboratory.
+ Logs lab procedures completed. Processes related paperwork.
+ Assists laboratory staff in routine tests used in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
+ Performs microscopic examination of body cells to identify abnormalities.
+ Operates a wide variety of laboratory instrumentation, prepares accurate reports such as Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
+ Utilizes computer system for data storage and retrieval.
+ Maintains a clean, safe and well-stocked work area including records, supplies and equipment.
+ Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
+ Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols.
+ Accurately collects improvement performance data as directed.
+ Actively participates in the development and implementation of process improvements.
+ Follows company policies to ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA and other regulatory agencies. Utilizes universal precautions in handling infectious material.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
**Qualifications**
+ H.S. Diploma or GED required
+ Less than 2 years Lab preferred
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Continuing education of new technologies.
+ Excellent time management skills
+ Strong organization & communication skills.
+ Basic knowledge of tools and equipment.
+ Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
+ Superior ability to perform laboratory testing.
+ Ability to handle high volumes of work without error.
+ Knowledge of laboratory and quality control procedures.
**Licenses and Certifications**
+ AHA or ARC BLS Certification due within 30 days of employment required
