This position is located in the Pathology and Applied Safety Science chapter, a department within the Pharmaceutical Sciences function. We drive the non-clinical safety assessment of drug candidates from small molecules to complex biological products during the discovery and development phases at Roche.
The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a highly talented and committed Lab Automation Expert to strengthen our group and enable the lab of the future by developing and implementing lab processes and data automation solutions.
As part of our dynamic team, you will:
Develop and implement automation-friendly 2D and 3D cell culture protocols.
Miniaturize and implement standard assays and lab activities.
Handle end-to-end automation project execution.
Automate data flow between instruments, IT systems, and data storage.
Act as a super-user and run workstations.
Train users on automated platforms.
Provide first-level support for automated lab equipment.
Contribute to the development of an automation strategy.
Who you areYou hold qualifications such as an M.Sc. or higher in cell biology, biotechnology, bioinformatics, or a related field, with relevant job experience compensating for lower degrees.
You have valuable experience in pharmaceutical laboratory automation. Your talent and motivation make you a skilled automation expert.
You have knowledge of molecular biology, mammalian cell culture techniques, and laboratory work in a BSL2 environment. You bring at least 3-5 years of professional experience in programming and operating liquid handling robots (Tecan Freedom EVO/Fluent, Beckman Biomek, Hamilton STAR/Vantage, or similar). You have a good understanding of programming languages (e.g. Python).
You possess excellent scientific, communication, and organizational skills; you are fully committed to team efforts but able to work independently. You are proficient in English, and German proficiency is a plus.
