Hiring Unit:
Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the incumbent will assist in a research project to image the eye. These functions are of moderate complexity and the incumbent performs them using general instruction from the immediate supervisor.

Performs laboratory tasks related to counting retinal ganglion cell somas and axons.

Keeps the electronic lab notebook (SciNote) up to date with inventory, surgical and post-op notes, and pictures of retinas. Assists in laboratory team meetings and generating meeting notes.

Helps with general laboratory organization (checks the consumables stock regularly, keeps the common use areas clean and unobstructed, organizes the cabinets when receiving new stocks, discards tips accordingly and changes the discard regularly) and basic tasks such as tools sterilization, filling and tip boxes sterilization, filling MiliQ water tank, and solution preparation. Updates protocols as required. Maintains the work area in a clean and orderly fashion.

Depending on previous experience, the incumbent might also help prepare solutions for perfusion, photograph retinas, prepare surgical tools, and assist in surgeries.

Education/ Experience:

At least High School Diploma with one year of relevant experience in the field of work. Additional education and experience in the area of biological science or related areas is a plus.
