Hiring Unit: Department of Bioresource Engineering


Position Summary:

Provide technical assistance as well as safety surveillance for students from Bioresource Engineering and other academic programs authorised to conduct hand-on activities in design and fabrication areas of the Technical Services Building; assist the Shop Coordinator in preparing space and materials for laboratory and other experiential learning activities; clean and store tools and materials after completion of such activities; assist in work space reorganization, storage optimization, inventory and related improvements across the Technical Services Building.


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities: Be an experienced user of power tools and other equipment typical for a mechanical shop; have outstanding space organizing skills; be punctual and professional in terms of time management; be aware of operational safety protocols; have completed WHIMIS and first aid training; be physically fit to lift and relocate items up to 50 lbs and work in a mechanical shop environment while wearing appropriate protection gear; have a valid operator's driving license. Understanding computer-aided design, electrical/fluid circuits, 3D printing and other contemporary design and fabrication technologies is a plus.
