The Lab Manager will support the Pittsburgh Water Collaboratory in efforts to conduct engaged research on regional water quality challenges with community partners, as well as internal research projects that require specific laboratory analyses. This work includes the potential to collaborate on active research projects and proposal development. As an active member of the Water Collaboratory, you will conduct, coordinate and oversee laboratory measurements of water samples, assist with engaging local groups to identify water quality challenges, develop sampling plans, and interpret/report results to the community partners. The successful candidate will mentor trainees in laboratory water quality analysis. The lab manager will ensure QA/QC of sample results and be responsible for tracking sample inventory, invoicing, customer reporting and interpretation, and data sharing to web-based platforms. Management of complicated mixes of community partner, student, and Collaboratory member needs will be required for timely completion of tasks in the continually evolving suite of research projects. Laboratories associated with Collaboratory members house instrumentation including inductively-coupled mass spectrometry, ion chromatography, gamma spectrometry, Lachat Quikchem flow injection analyzer, microplate readers, UV-vis spectrometry, and a laser water isotope analyzer. Preferred start date is early 2025, although later dates will be considered.
