Job Details:
Responsibilities: Responsibilities will vary from performing one procedure or work instruction to a number of analytical microbiological or quality system procedures or work instructions in a Food Safety Laboratory. Precision and accuracy in performance on at least 75 of the applicable work instructions and data collection is essential. Team members will be required to demonstrate proficiency and growth after training. Demonstrate proficiency on at least 3 consecutive sets of check samples performed at least annually on 75 or more of the applicable departmental work instructions.
The individual will need to demonstrate proficiency using the LIMS system by successfully utilizing the log-in, batch action, and result entry screens. Ability to perform complex work instructions and or operate sophisticated equipment without close supervision; able to work independently and resolve routine problems; assist in the planning development method modification validation and evaluation of new or existing testing applications and test results; ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing; maintain ISO records for process control; will be expected to cross-train and be capable of substituting for absent team members in specific areas and comply with quality system and safety requirements; other duties as assigned.
Team members will be responsible for presenting at least one departmental work seminar on a scientific or technical subject. Team members must have achieved all performance review goals and an acceptable overall ranking for the last 3 consecutive annual review periods.
Requirements and or Qualifications: Education: A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. College level courses or a degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or Physical Sciences is preferred.
Experience and or Expertise: A minimum of three years of lab experience is preferred.
Difficulty of Duties: Work activities are variable and require good judgment to complete tasks such as setting priorities, evaluating results, reporting opinions or interpretations, and coordinating activities with others. Assignments are defined, and the approach to be taken is usually determined in coordination with other team members.
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or equivalent and LabWare LIMS database applications.
Training Programs: The training needs for this job classification have been assessed by the appropriate management team member and are listed in the LIMS Training Manager. The amount and level of training required are dependent on the level of responsibility authorized to team members assigned to this job classification. Aside from the minimum required training, training programs may vary from team member to team member.
Managerial Duties: No other management duties are associated with this job classification unless specifically authorized by the appropriate management team member responsible for team members assigned with this job classification.
