Position: Lab Manager
Location: South San Francisco, CA

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lab Operations Management will play a crucial role in maintaining an efficient and organized laboratory environment for our R&D team. Working closely with scientists, computational biologists, and engineers, the Lab Manager will ensure that the lab is well-equipped, compliant, and fully functional. This role requires strong organizational skills, independence, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The Lab Manager will oversee essential lab operations, manage inventory, maintain equipment, and act as the primary point of contact for lab resources and facility needs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Equipment Management: Maintain lab equipment by monitoring usage, coordinating maintenance schedules, and arranging repairs as needed. Ensure all equipment meets safety and operational standards. Inventory and Procurement: Track laboratory supplies, anticipate stock needs, and manage procurement processes. Coordinate with vendors to confirm timely and accurate deliveries. Vendor and Supplier Relations: Work directly with suppliers to source materials and troubleshoot order delays, discrepancies, or urgent needs. Scheduling and Coordination: Organize and schedule team meetings, lab activities, and cross-functional collaborations. Coordinate with building facilities and maintenance to ensure the lab’s upkeep. Sample and Database Management: Oversee sample handling, biobank organization, and database maintenance for accurate record-keeping and efficient operations. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure lab operations comply with safety protocols, regularly updating documentation and tracking safety measures. Operational Leadership: Foster a positive lab environment, acting as a resource and leader for the team. Develop and implement new workflows or protocols to increase lab efficiency and effectiveness. Administrative Support: Provide additional administrative support to the lab team as needed, including processing purchase requisitions and managing documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: BS/BA in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field. Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in laboratory operations, inventory management, or a related industry role. Experience in an R&D or clinical lab is preferred.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Proficiency in inventory and lab management software is a plus. Familiarity with regulatory requirements for lab safety and compliance. Experience in automated workflows or lab process optimization is advantageous.

 

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.San Carlos, CA $109,000—$140,000 USD
