GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:

Manages, coordinates, and supervises the activities of a support section of the clinical laboratory.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent required.  Associate degree or equivalent education preferred. 2 years of experience working in a physician’s office or hospital setting required. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Accurately assigns appropriate billing and ICD-9 / ICD-10 codes to reports and orders. Effectively prioritizes work to maintain maximum efficiency. 

Plans, prepares, and coordinates work schedules to provide adequate coverage and efficient use of staff. Ensures that department meets all regulatory requirements. Provides for employee training and development. Ability to communicate effectively with patients and hospital staff. Medical terminology. Communication and management skills preferred.
