The Lab Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical support, maintenance, and optimization of the Waters Empower software and its associated Laboratory Acquisition Control Environment (LAC/E) Box. This role ensures seamless data acquisition and processing in laboratory environments.
We anticipate hiring for this role in late March/Early April
• System Installation and Configuration: Set up Waters Empower software and LAC/E Boxes, and configure connections between instruments (e.g., HPLC or GC systems) and the LAC/E Box.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve software, hardware, and network connectivity issues related to Empower and LAC/E Box. Address chromatographic data acquisition and processing problems.
• Maintenance and Updates: Perform routine system health checks on LAC/E Boxes and associated software. Apply software patches and firmware updates.
• Compliance: Ensure system compliance with regulatory standards such as 21 CFR Part 11 (electronic records/electronic signatures compliance). Support data integrity and audit readiness for laboratory systems.
• Training and Documentation: Provide user training for Empower software and LAC/E Box operation. Create and maintain system documentation, including SOPs, user guides, and troubleshooting manuals.
• Integration and Optimization: Assist in integrating LAC/E Boxes with laboratory networks or enterprise systems like LIMS/ELN. Optimize workflows to improve lab efficiency and system performance.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering (Electrical, Computer, or Systems), Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Experience: Previous experience with Waters Empower software and LAC/E Box, including configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Waters Empower Chromatography Data System (CDS).
• Familiarity with HPLC, GC, and related techniques.
• Strong IT skills, including networking, Windows OS, and database management.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance (GxP, 21 CFR Part 11).
• Excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in instrumentation, electronics, or IT are a plus.
