Lab Support Technician/Phlebotomist - Part Time

Park Street, Madison, WI Department: Phlebotomy Hours/Schedule: 1) Part time, variable shift, 16 hours per week. This schedule is 4 hour shifts start as early as 3:00 a.m. or 4:00 a.m. and includes an every other weekend commitment. 2) Part time, day shift, 20 hours per week. This schedule includes an every other weekend rotation. 3) Part time, PRN/Occasional. **A one-time sign on bonus is available to qualified individuals for up to $2,500 (less taxes) with a 2 year service commitment for positions that are a minimum of 20 hours per week.** **Job Summary:** Under specific direction, collects and prepares blood specimens and other samples for laboratory testing. Maintains collection areas and equipment and performs record keeping duties. **Job Responsibilities and Requirements:** PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES + Collects blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary technique and processes the samples according to laboratory guidelines. + Delivers samples to the laboratory in established time frames. + May perform waived testing. + May perform a variety of administrative duties to support the department. + Identifies patients using two identifiers. + Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. + Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION + High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience EXPERIENCE + No experience required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS + Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. + Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. + Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. + Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. + Frequent keyboard use/data entry. + Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping. + Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. + Rare climbing.
