Lab Tech II - DS 1st shift

Responsibilities:
• Under general direction, performs procedures for screening and controlling material used in the processing, manufacture and distribution of blood and plasma products
• Independently performs lab procedures related to unit and/or donor suitability testing and other assays
• Performs routine analytical testing using manual and automated methods and procedures; analyzes test results against set controls
• Applies advanced skills to troubleshoot non-routine problems; conducts necessary retests, performs second technical review of test batches prior to releases of results
• Provides technical assistance to less experienced staff and participates in the design of training
• Operates analytical instrumentation and technical laboratory equipment; performs routine maintenance of assigned instruments and equipment
• Works within current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) guidelines and adheres to all regulatory standards within the lab
• Follows safety regulations, Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) rules, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Qualifications:

Medical Lab Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) designation as required by the State of Tennessee preferred.Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or in a chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, from an accredited institutionAssociate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or in a chemical, physical, or biological scienceFour + (4+) years' relevant experience preferred or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education[New York State requirements] For the State of New York, a Supervisor must have a Bachelor’s  Degree or higher in Medical Technology or related science and must have 4 years of laboratory experience at the Technologist level if supervising the processing and testing of New York samples (if Master’s Degree, 2 years of laboratory experience required; if Doctoral Degree, 2 years of laboratory experience required). (Per regs: 10NYCRR Part 19 and subparts of 10NYCRR Part 58: 58 - 1.4 and 58-1.5)Functional knowledge of cGMPs and operations in a FDA regulated industry
