UVa Good Manufacturing Practice Core Facility (cGMP) is looking to hire Lab Technician 1 or 2; or Lab Specialist; to support operations of the Core facility. Main responsibilities for this position include biospecimen collection, processing, distribution, and shipping in support of clinical trials. In addition Technician will support Core Manager and Core Director with maintenance of the facility.
The successful candidate will:
Assist to coordinate scheduling of clinical study samples, documenting/logging sample details, sample processing, and record and track results.
Sample processing, documentation, and shipment.
Assist the cGMP supervisor in performing duties to maintain compliance with FDA guidelines.
Assist in qualification testing to maintain clean room cGMP facilities with minimal supervision.
Coordinate and participate in a variety of routine technical duties by providing assistance to clinical and research staff in immune testing and setting up the experiments.
Provide basic assistance to researchers in manipulating, computing, and analyzing data.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Laboratory and Research Technician 1
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: At least 1 year of lab experience, which may include student experience. Bachelor's degree will be considered in lieu of experience.
Licensure: None
Laboratory and Research Technician 2
Education: Associate's degree
Experience: At least 2 years of lab experience which may include student experience. Bachelor's degree in related science will be considered in lieu of experience.
Licensure: None.
Lab Specialist
Education: Bachelor's degree.
Experience: 2 years of experience. 4 years of lab-related experience accepted in lieu of degree.
Licensure: None.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
