Lab Technician
Job Title: Lab Technician

Job Description

This position will be responsible for helping around the lab. This includes cleaning glassware, setting up tasting tables, and assisting lab technicians. This position could involve conducting chemical and organoleptic analysis in the Quality Control Lab. The role focuses primarily on running samples of various whiskey and bourbon products, and includes setting up testing trays for bourbon panels. The Lab Technician will also ensure that all materials received adhere to required specifications and comply with regulatory requirements, including OSHA, TTB, and EPA standards.

ResponsibilitiesRun samples of various whiskey and bourbon products using equipment such as HPLC, GC, atomic absorption, and other necessary lab equipment.Set up testing trays for bourbon panels and tasting panels.Obtain samples from the production line and communicate results with production to support corrective actions if specifications are not met.Conduct documentation and perform other clerical duties as assigned.Test raw materials, in-process, and finished products for compliance.Monitor bottling line setup for compliance with documented standards, including flavor, proof, and package quality.Essential SkillsProficiency in Chemistry and Laboratory practices.Experience in Quality Control and GMP.Knowledge of Analytical Chemistry, Wet Chemistry, and Titration techniques.Understanding of Distillery Manufacturing processes.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related field.Some laboratory experience, preferably in the food industry.Work Environment

The work environment is a distillery manufacturing setting, featuring a large, open laboratory space. The position is for the first shift, from 6:30 am to 3:30 pm. The dress code is business casual, with eventual adoption of specific attire. The role is situated at a historic distillery, which is a fully operational site producing bourbon, rye, and vodka, listed on the National Historic Register.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
