Seeking a Lab Technician in the Coralville Area!! Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to work in a dynamic environment focused on the formulation and quality control of oligos. The role involves translating order requirements into specific processes to formulate oligos according to customer specifications. The Lab Technician will quantify and sample oligos for quality control, assess QC data, and make pass/fail decisions. Responsibilities include completing replication of plate and tube orders, conducting backend checks on the final product, and maintaining daily shipping deadlines. The role also involves using automated and manual lab equipment, including limited maintenance and troubleshooting activities, and maximizing automation for all processes. Proficiency in custom software packages and Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is essential. Responsibilities + Translate order requirements into processes to formulate oligos. + Quantify and sample oligos for quality control and make pass/fail decisions. + Complete replication of plate and tube orders. + Perform backend checks on final products. + Maintain daily shipping deadlines for all products. + Use and maintain automated and manual lab equipment. + Maximize automation for all processes. + Utilize custom software packages to complete tasks and create the final product. Essential Skills + Proficiency in quality control, DNA extraction, and DNA sequencing. + Strong understanding of biology, chemistry, and microbiology. + Skilled in pipetting and using liquid handlers. + Experience in formulations and adding buffers to PAGE oligos. + Competence in using Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or another life science preferred. + Associate's Degree in Life Science with 1-2 years of relevant lab-based experience is also acceptable. + Ability to perform repetitive and manual work, such as pipetting and labeling, according to set procedures. Work Environment The position is based in the PAGE Long Oligo Lab, operating Monday through Thursday from 9:00 pm to 7:30 am. The work environment involves using a variety of PC software programs and requires a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. The role includes a shift differential, enhancing the overall compensation. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.80 - $24.80/hr.
