The R&D Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of various lab equipment. This position involves setting up and operating pilot lines, producing and testing samples, conducting experiments, and manually working with mechanical components to drive improvement.
ResponsibilitiesLearn and apply standard test methods and processes.Perform repetitive tests following standard operating procedures, gather data, and analyze results for product characterization and process monitoring.Assist engineering and scientific teams in obtaining necessary supplies and components.Assist in the set-up and execution of experiments.Work with vendors and suppliers to procure and install tooling fixtures and equipment.Assist in the creation and set-up of pilot production lines.Prepare and run a variety of materials through machinery and equipment, including but not limited to Thermal Former, extruder, microwave dryer, mixer.Contribute to technical reports, validations, and qualifications by capturing experimental results.Work in a lab environment and outdoors, being hands-on and engaging in manual tasks like 'turning a wrench'.Log and document equipment hours, chemical inventory, waste stream, performed maintenance, and material use.Communicate issues to other members of the engineering and lab team for necessary adjustments and fixes.Be mindful of environmental, health, and safety protocols while executing experiments and machinery testing.Essential SkillsMechanical skills.Troubleshooting abilities.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in assisting engineering and scientific teams.Ability to work with vendors and suppliers.Work Environment
The role is based in a warehouse lab area, providing a dynamic work environment where technicians are involved both in indoor lab settings and outdoor conditions. The position requires a hands-on approach, working directly with machinery and equipment.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.04 - $28.85/hr.
