Job Summary
Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under supervision by the section chief technologist. Insures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to department's policies and procedures. Maintains records and statistical data according to regulative requirements. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Collects chain of custody urine drug screens as required. Performs breath alcohol testing as needed. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care.

Associate Degree in medical technology or biological sciences or chemistry required or Other must have completed an approved clinical laboratory training program or an ASCP approved equivalent before 1988 preferred 1-2 years laboratory experience preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. Strong organization & communication skills. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment. Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Familiarity with laboratory equipment and procedures. Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain orderly records.Licenses and Certifications
MLT - Medical Technician - ASCP or equivalent (AAB, CLS, HEW) required
