Lab Technician
Laboratory Technician

Job Description:

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for completing assigned duties to ensure customer, team member, and vendor satisfaction. The Laboratory Technician does this by performing the testing on production samples and finished product samples to determine compliance with FDA, NYS regulations, and company standards. The Laboratory Technician completes these functions in the support of the manufacture of dairy-related products.

Additional Requirements:Conduct and evaluate product testing resultsRelease compliant product from hold on computerized inventory management systemInspect and verify sanitary condition of processing lines/fillers/tanks/overall areasConduct ATP swabbing and visual inspectionsValidate vitamin additions and batching sheets for processing departmentsCommunicate openly with Quality Control Team and plant personnelConduct microbiological analyses, chemical analyses, and sensory testingConduct bacteria/shelf life testing of fresh and stressed samplesMaintain laboratory logbook and Hold/Disposition LogLog and send out COAs (Certificate of Analysis)Complete Titratable Acidity (TA) test using all methodsConduct Allergen testingPerform Sterile Sampling of TanksComplete and report product testing using tally and Product Testing RecordPerform cryoscope testing on milk productsVerify product labelingConduct EQA testingComplete shelf life sensory testingPerform butterfat and solids testing using appropriate equipmentConduct product sterility testing on samplesUpdate log and results for Product Hold and Disposition LogUtilize LIMS system and verify analytical, sensory, and microbiological testingSkillsMinimum of GED or High School Diploma is requiredAssociates degree in dairy/food sciences or equivalent highly preferred1-2 years’ experience in similar food industry lab setting highly preferredPrior laboratory experienceEffective communication between shifts and departmentsTeam collaborationAttention to detailProblem-solvingTime managementJob Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 5 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in East Syracuse, New York.

Work Environment

6pm-6:30am Sunday - Wednesday, every other Wednesday
