What You'll Do:

The Lab Technician in the Blend Test Services department is responsible for all facets of testing from the set-up and take-down to reporting of results.  The majority of the workday is spent in a laboratory setting working with new and used oils, solvents, chemicals and testing equipment.  This person is responsible for ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery of test results while using good laboratory practices and housekeeping during daily operations.

 

What We're Looking For:

Perform tests to evaluate analytical and performance properties of Lubrizol products.  Conduct tests that are compliant with procedures, work instructions and ISO9001 and ISO17025 practices.  Collaborate with chemists to update or revise work instructions and procedures as necessary. Understand and perform calculations related to testing; ability to recognize and resolve incorrect calculations or data prior to reporting results. Plot control/reference data on charts.  Understand control charting process and tools.  Identify when data is “out of control” and work closely with chemists and business partners to resolve issues or problems.  Appropriately elevate items to chemist, manager and/or business partner when necessary. Use a variety of internal and external software tools to review, track and report data. Perform routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on test equipment. Practice hazard recognition in daily work activities. Seek to improve and promote the safety, operational excellence and cyber-security in the work area. Facilitate sample flow between work area and other areas in the department.  Communicate issues to appropriate personnel.  Manage day to day priorities activities of testing; prioritize and communicate test schedules to requestors as needed.  Manage time each day to maximize efficiency of testing coverage and throughput.  Adopt the flexible workforce mindset. Cross train to help areas of highest need focusing on overall group needs. Maintain high ethical standards at all times in all activities.  Additional duties as assigned.

 

Skills That Make a Difference:

 

Three years of lab testing experience or BS degree in scientific field. Working knowledge of statistics. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Track record of customer service. Knowledge of control charting and ISO 9001 and 17025 requirements. Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to function in a team environment by working well with others.
