As a Lab Technician reporting to the Quality Supervisor, you will perform product analysis to ensure the quality and safety of the products produced in the plant by verifying all necessary food safety compliance requirements. This role involves testing cheese, whey, cottage cheese, and feta cheese, and requires knowledge of various testing methods and equipment.
Responsibilities
+ Perform analytical testing on all products produced in the facility.
+ Conduct micro testing on Crystallizer (SPC) produced in the facility.
+ Perform retest/cutoff testing on all products produced in the facility.
+ Proficiently use basic computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
+ Operate within SAP, Matrix, and Quality Suite to perform functions critical to quality.
+ Collaborate with internal customers to address all quality-related issues.
+ Understand the importance of food safety and aseptic sampling of products, executing these tasks in a timely manner.
+ Support satisfactory scores on all LHD Quality Systems assessments related to QRMP and HACCP, FSSC.
+ Provide Quality Systems training (HACCP, GMPs, Hold and Release, and Calibration) to all LHD employees.
+ Assist in managing potential product or process out-of-specification situations, including investigations, root causes, and corrective and preventative action plans.
+ Escalate out-of-spec results to production via real-time radio call.
+ Perform other assignments as directed.
+ Accountable for QRMP standards, including implementation, improvement, and ongoing maintenance.
+ Comply with policies and procedures related to the LHD Management System.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in testing cheese, whey, cottage cheese, and feta cheese.
+ Knowledge of performing moisture oven testing, working with CEM Smartrack, FT2 Milkoscan, protein tests using Kjeldahl, and salt titrators.
+ Knowledge of performing cryoscope on dairy liquids and calcium testing.
+ Proficiency in basic computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
+ Experience with SAP, Matrix, and Quality Suite.

Work Environment
The work environment involves working in a laboratory setting within a food production facility. This role requires the use of various testing equipment and adherence to strict safety and quality standards. The lab technician will work with internal customers and use radio communication to escalate issues in real-time. Dress code and safety protocols must be followed as per facility guidelines.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
