As a QA Lab Technician, you will ensure that all internal quality assurance policies and those of our customers are in compliance. You will be responsible for making and sterilizing media for micro testing, enforcing food safety and quality policies, and performing various types of microbiological testing on ingredients and finished products. This role requires a strong understanding of aseptic techniques, microbiological testing, and the ability to operate delicate test equipment.
ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with all internal quality assurance policies and customer requirements.Make and sterilize media for microbiological testing.Enforce all food safety and food quality policies and procedures.Perform various microbiological tests on ingredients and finished products, including sample gathering, media preparation, inoculation, incubation, plating, identification (gram stain), interpreting results, and recording results.Conduct weekly and monthly plant environmental testing following proper procedures.Perform microbiological testing on incoming bulk tankers such as High Fructose Corn Syrup and Orange Juice Concentrate.Prepare and test line swabs for weekly startup activities.Maintain sterility logs, micro medium logs, and micro lab equipment temperature logs.Operate and validate the autoclave safely on a weekly basis.Write Corrective Action Forms and perform sterility investigations to determine the root cause of microbiological issues in the plant.Maintain the raw material sampling program and test associated materials, maintaining the database.Maintain the micro corrective action log and the calibration program for all lab equipment.Essential SkillsPost high school education in the life sciences.Experience in a laboratory and food processing environment.Proficiency in MS Office and network functions.Familiarity with aseptic technique and microbiological testing.Ability to operate delicate test equipment.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in wet chemistry, titration, analytical chemistry.Knowledge of batch records, FDA regulations, chemistry, biology, quality assurance, and food science.Work Environment
The work environment includes both lab and manufacturing settings. You will work with various microbiological testing equipment and maintain logs and databases related to quality assurance and laboratory testing. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and proper procedure in a fast-paced environment.
Shift is overnight - 7pm-7am // 2 days on 2 days off.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
