Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician specializing in Microbiology. The role involves environmental monitoring, water sampling, water bioburden testing, in-process bioburden testing, and bacterial endotoxin testing (BET). This position supports testing across various stages of pharmaceutical manufacturing, from raw materials to finished goods, and may include environmental monitoring programs.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct environmental monitoring, critical utility sampling, endotoxin testing, and bioburden testing for raw materials and in-process samples.
+ Perform microbial identification and final product sterility testing.
+ Support laboratory operations through sample control, equipment metrology, data reconciliation/archiving, and computerized system programming.
+ Handle multiple tasks concurrently in a timely fashion.
+ Communicate effectively (both verbal and written) with supervisors and peers.
+ Operate laboratory equipment, including autoclaves, incubators, and analytical equipment.
+ Read and follow detailed written instructions.
+ Adhere to basic chemical and biological safety procedures.
+ Use computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Essential Skills
+ BS degree in Biology or Microbiology.
+ 6+ months of industry experience in microbiology testing and environmental monitoring.
+ Experience with water sampling, bioburden testing, and bacterial endotoxin testing (BET).
+ Ability to work weekends when needed.
+ Good verbal and written communication skills.
+ Knowledge of laboratory equipment and safety procedures.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Previous work experience in the food or pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
+ Experience with particle counters or microbial air samples is advantageous.
+ Entry-level candidates with academic lab experience are welcome to apply.
Work Environment
This position requires working Thursday-Sunday in 4x10 shifts, with hours either from 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM or 1:30 PM - Midnight. The role involves daily entry into the manufacturing area, with gowning required 1-3 times per day. Gowning includes changing into scrubs, wearing a smock, bonnet, safety glasses, and shoe covers. In certain areas, full gowning is required, with only eyes visible under goggles. This is a full clean room environment where no makeup, jewelry, or nails are allowed. The campus offers state-of-the-art facilities, including multiple laboratories, a warehouse, utilities production, and a commons building with amenities such as a cafeteria, coffee bar, fitness center, and patio.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00
