**What is a Labor Relations Coordinator?**
Reporting to the Labor Relations Manager, the Labor Relations Coordinator will provide an array of services to support the Labor Relations team and partner with the larger Human Resources group as needed to achieve overall Company strategic initiatives. Managing multiple priorities, and with great attention to detail, the Labor Relations Coordinator will provide not only administrative support to the labor relations team but will have primary responsibility for the internal recruitment process for bargaining unit positions.
**What does a Labor Relations Coordinator do?**
+ Oversees the internal recruitment process for bargaining unit positions including coordinating with the operating areas on staffing needs, posting positions, reviewing qualifications, and making assignments
+ Facilitates discussions with operating area management and union on any mid-term changes to job specifications or tests as needed
+ Coordinates logistics for and administer all internal aptitude tests and provide support to operating areas on progression testing
+ Provides advice and counsel to the management team on the post & bid recruitment process
+ Serves as an information resource and subject matter expert for the internal HR team and company employees on the internal post & bid recruitment process and other general contract terms
+ Performs Workday transactions as needed and required by the Labor Relations team to support HRIS administrators and supervisors
+ Provides support to the Labor Relations team in the administration of contractual provisions such as 3- & 6-month probationary evaluations, callout program, and lost time reviews
+ Maintains and updates the departments physical and electronic records as needed
+ Provides all reports to the union as required by the collective bargaining agreements
+ Assists in the coordination of labor relations meetings
+ Provides administrative support to the Labor Relations team as needed during negotiations or grievance meetings including taking meeting minutes, tracking proposals, compiling of MOA and updating the union contract
+ Supports team project-based initiatives as assigned
+ Supports storm/emergency restoration efforts as needed
**What does it take to be a Labor Relations Coordinator?**
**Required:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an associate’s degree in human resources or a related field and at least 2 years of direct work experience in a human resources role. In lieu of an associate’s degree, a high school diploma or equivalency degree and 4 years of direct work experience in a human resources role.
+ Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and the ability to learn new computer software programs quickly
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and management at all levels of the organization.
+ Effectively manage competing priorities while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail, accuracy and composure.
+ Ability to handle sensitive employee matters and manage conflict effectively
+ A valid driver’s license
**Preferred:**
+ Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws including but not limited to FLSA, Title VII, NYPFL, and ADA.
