We are seeking a motivated and experienced Labor Relations Specialist to join our team. You will play a key role in providing sound advice and guidance on collective agreements to our members, promoting a collaborative work environment within the industry.

 

Reporting to the Labor Relations Manager, you will be working alongside Labor Relations professionals including a team of LR Coordinators who support the organization. Your responsibilities will range from facilitating meetings with multiple stakeholders including unions, owners and contractors, conducting research on cross-sector collective agreements and Labor Board decisions, and gaining expertise in providing labor relations advice to clients. You may also be involved in the bargaining process with several unions in this position.

What You'll Do Here 

 

Provides accurate and timely advice, guidance and support on the interpretation of collective agreements to all members of the association. Promotes early dispute resolution objectives to identify and reduce potential conflict between members and trade union partners to promote harmonious labor relations on the job sites. Participates and supports the handling of the grievance and arbitration process. Actively participates in collective bargaining and the implementation of new collective agreements and wage schedules. Fosters effective relationships with Building Trade Unions and Representatives. Supports members in the markup process. Maintains up to date knowledge of construction industry trends and best practices in the sector. Provides training and information sessions to stakeholders on labor relations matters. Participates in committees and stakeholder committees. Research and compare relevant industry collective agreements and internal and external information sources for use in future collective bargaining. Participate in multi-union discussions to explore solutions to on-site issues. Assist in the creation of reports and maintain databases. Other duties as required.

 

What You Bring To The Team

 

Educational background in human resources, labor relations or industrial relations. Experience working in a labor relations environment at Nuclear or DOE facilities. Knowledge of the construction industry and building trade unions is an asset. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Collaborative team member with excellent interpersonal skills to converse with industry stakeholders. Experience in collective bargaining and contract implementation is an asset. Highly motivated with a positive attitude, and excited to take on challenges. Ability to generate and analyze financial information. Valid Driver’s License required for frequent travel for meetings and conferences. Must pass DOE security background investigation including drug and alcohol testing.
