About the role:
Analyst will be responsible for analyzing samples using manual and more complex instrumental techniques in accordance with prescribed methods and standard operating procedures.
Perform all duties associated with sample analysis of more complex laboratory tests, including acid digestion via Microwave and Hot Plate techniques for Metals Analysis by ICP-OES.,Analyze, interpret and review sample results, as well as, peer review of others data.Perform all quality control requirements associated with the methods and maintain appropriate records.Perform all work within established quality control parameters and within specified turnaround times.Record bench level observations and keep records in bound and electronic notebooks.Perform preventative and routine maintenance on instrumentation, including the ICP-OES.Troubleshoot and fix instrument malfunctions on instrumentation, including the ICP-OESAbility to develop process improvements as needed.Maintain safe working conditions and a clean, orderly work area at all times.Exercise laboratory safety practices.Other duties as assigned. About you:
Proficient verbal and written communication skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office.Must be able to initiate corrective action without prompting and assist co-workers whenever necessary in order to meet deadlines.Must be able to effectively perform duties under pressures arising from large sample volumes and short turn-around times.Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.Ability to use (or learn to use) Laboratory Information Management System.Familiarity working with concentrated acids, including Nitric Acid, Hydrochloric Acid, Sulfuric Acid, and Hydrofluoric Acid (specialty HF safety training is provided)Sample dissolution with concentrated acids and analysis by ICP-OES or ICP-MS.Experience with a laboratory microwave is a plus.
Required Qualifications:
AA in science required.Bachelor’s degree in a related science is preferred.4 - 8 years of analytical laboratory experience is preferred.
Physical Demands:
The ability to stand for intervals of up to 8 hours while working; Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with co-workers and managers;Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate equipment and handle glassware;Must have average vision and able to see to read reports and operate equipment;Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
