We are seeking a Poultry Animal Technician to join our dynamic team! This position will focus on overall poultry animal care and welfare, production, facility upkeep and recordkeeping and procedural duties. The person in this role will need to feel passionate about working with poultry, enjoy and excel at organization, and support and maintain a clean, safe and compliant working environment. We are seeking someone that is hardworking, shows attention to detail, takes initiative, has a teamwork mentality and positive attitude.
Starting Rate: $18/hour
Responsibilities Cares for animals including feeding, cleaning, grooming, and breeding responsibilitiesFollows protocol to ensure the health and welfare of the poultry in care, including maintaining health recordsDuties to perform include artificial insemination, blood collection, and other health sampling as directedConduct hatch activities including extensive documentationKeeps accurate records of breeding, feeding, egg collection, cleaning and care of poultryMaintains responsibility for sanitation of the poultry buildings, cages and support areas.Other duties as assigned Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent.Desire to work with and care for poultry on a daily basis.Interest in poultry productionContinuous effort toward contributing to a clean and safe working environmentAbility and willingness to complete paperwork as neededMust be available to work weekends/ holidays on a rotating basisWillingness to work overtime when needed, very limitedThis position requires that the Poultry Animal Care Technician be able to:
Able to handle poultry and recognize abnormalitiesAbility to perform repetitive tasks quickly and efficientlyAble to work in a confined environmentAttention to details, experience with GDP desiredFrequently bend, reach, push, pull, squat and lift, stand/walk most of work shiftAvoid contact with avian species outside of work*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
