The Opportunity

The position of Laboratory Assistant, Data Review, is within our Toxicology Division located at Richmond, VA at Alere Toxicology Services. In this role, the individual will work within the Confirmations department and be responsible primarily for sample vial discard, loading of samples to confirmatory drug testing instrumentation and preparation of reagents.

Shift: Tues/Fri/Sat/Sun - 10-hour shifts starting at 12 pm

What You’ll Work On

Loading of donor samples and controls to LC-MS/MS, GC-MS and GC-FID instrumentation

Operation of Sciex LC-MS/MS and Agilent GC-MS instrumentation

Use of Sciex Analyst and MultiQuant software

Use of Agilent ChemStation software

System check reviews of instrumentation to verify performance

Proper disposal of samples and controls

Proper disposal of solvent waste

Minor troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation

Training of new personnel, as needed

Adherence to all security and safety procedures and all established guidelines outlined in employee handbook

Compliance with all established SOPs, regulatory guidelines, and company policies

Assist in other departments, as needed

Assist with other tasks, as needed

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

Previous laboratory experience

Ability to understand analytical techniques and procedures

Ability to understand laboratory instrumentation including mass spectrometry

Ability to communicate with other employees

Ability to transcribe data in a legible handwriting

Ability to provide input and recommendations on operations

Ability to lift and/or move 25 pounds

Ability to use MS Office Suite

Have full body movement

Climate-controlled office and testing laboratory environment

Potential exposure to toxic or hazardous materials

The base pay for this position is $13.85 – $27.75 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
