Job Description

The Laboratory Assistant will work in the Chemistry Laboratory to perform quality testing services by supporting the continuous sample flow through sample preparation and processing.

ResponsibilitiesPerform sample preparation providing representative and homogenous samples for LC, GC, and Inorganic analyses.Document all pertinent information for all samples logged in for residue and inorganic/nutrition laboratories including sample locations, descriptions, and equipment used for processing.Archive tested samples with destroy dates displayed prominently and dispose of samples accordingly with documented traceability.Ensure documentation of sample preparation processes are accurate and updated for each matrix received for processing.Maintain, verify, and calibrate general laboratory equipment and instrumentation associated with daily work activities.Log maintenance activities in logbooks as needed.Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform minor repairs; notify supervisor of issues that require external repair.Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory operations by proposing and implementing changes for improving quality, increasing method performance, reducing cost, or shortening process time.Organize and maintain sample storage locations for functionality and cleanliness.Essential SkillsExperience in sample preparation, sample testing, and sample analysis.Knowledge in Chemistry and laboratory operations.Ability to handle lab samples and maintain lab safety.Proficiency in quality assurance and lab testing.Familiarity with lab equipment including LC-MS, GC-MS.Experience in lab inventory management.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience with food and agricultural sample preparation and troubleshooting.Knowledge of other relevant technologies and markets.Familiarity with the laboratory business environment.Work Environment

Works in a laboratory using general laboratory equipment. Standard day shift 8:00am - 4:30pm (Mon - Fri). Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36400.00 - $36400.00/yr.
