Join our Companion Diagnostics (CDx) team, where we collaborate with leading pharmaceutical companies to develop and commercialize highly regulated medical devices crucial for precision medicine. As a Laboratory Assistant in the Oncology division, you will support the Companion Diagnostic development group by performing tasks such as ordering supplies, washing and autoclaving dishware, maintaining equipment, filing, and data entry. You will also assist in the implementation, validation, and evaluation of new equipment for the histology lab. Depending on project needs, additional tasks may include histology work like microtomy, embedding, staining, and scanning.

Key Responsibilities:

Collect, wash, autoclave, and shelve laboratory dishware to ensure cleanliness and readiness for use.

Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and chemical/hazardous material rooms, ensuring proper organization and safety standards are upheld.

Safely remove biohazardous, hazardous, and glass waste in accordance with safety regulations.

Perform equipment IQ (Installation Qualification), OQ (Operational Qualification), PQ (Performance Qualification), as well as regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance.

Tend to general lab maintenance and repair tasks, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Maintain and organize the Tissue Bank and Stained Slide Bank to ensure proper storage and accessibility.

Assist with additional tasks as needed to support the lab’s overall functions.

QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent experience; additional education or certifications in laboratory sciences is a plus.Prior experience in a laboratory setting or similar environment is preferred.Knowledge of lab safety protocols and experience working with biohazardous materials.Ability to maintain accurate records and follow regulatory documentation requirements.Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to handle various tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Must adhere to established laboratory policies and guidelines, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment.Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain order in a busy laboratory environment.Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.Physical ability to lift and move lab equipment and supplies up to 25 lbs, as well as stand for long periods as necessary.

Knowledgeable in Pathology tissue/disease nomenclatureSolid understanding of OSHA requirements concerning chemical hygiene, biohazards and blood borne pathogensProven capability of safely handling carcinogenic substances, odorous and other hazardous materials/reagentsExperience with Oracle and or Agile or other inventory control and document change systems

The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $27.90 - $43.60/hr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
