Laboratory Assistant-Appliance Testing

As our global team continues to grow, we are looking for a Laboratory Assistant to join our team in Newton, Iowa. This role is ONSITE and requires employees to be in office Monday-Friday. The Appliances Test Laboratory Assistant is responsible for installing and conducting performance and energy efficiency testing on major appliances, while using precision equipment and test setups. These may include tests without published requirements, or those involving unique features that require us of independent judgement. Individual's responsibilities are: + Provides feedback regarding tests and assists in development of laboratory procedure guides. + Provides assistance to other team members in the testing and setup of washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, cooking appliances, water heaters, ice makers, pool pumps, and other residential or commercial products. + Operates appliances under specified test conditions and observes instruments such as data acquisition systems, watt meter, water flow meters, stop watches, tachometers, computers and scales; remaining alert for unexpected occurrences and recognizing both desired and undesired appliance performance functions and characteristics. + Installing appliances in the lab stations including the attachment of power cords + Operates designated laboratory equipment and special laboratory equipment as directed. + Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area. + Conducts test with minimal supervision within the defined limits of responsibility. Examines test samples and reads measuring instruments, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational instructions. + Evaluates test performance, provides feedback regarding issues and/or problems with test data sheets, and reviews test and construction data with supervisor. + Reads and interprets results of tests and prepares accurate, complete and concise reports to reflect significant facts, including use of computer programs, spreadsheets, graphics. Maintains accurate records of test procedures and conditions. + Prepares charts, graphs and reports to explain test results. + Receives samples in shipping and receiving area along with entering in sample tracking database. + Monitor inventory of sample products and calibrated equipment. Communicates with personnel to offer suggestions pertinent to equipment needs and arranges for designated disposal of samples upon completion of tests. + Use of 5S skills to keep lab and storage of samples organized + Use of fork truck, pallet jacks or hand carts to move samples + Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job. + Self-motivated to identify tasks that need to be completed and bring them to completion. + Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices. + Performs other duties as directed. + Higher Secondary Education. Effective communication skills and ability to interact with customers. + Proactive Attitude + Attention to Detail + Must be able to lift 40 pounds unassisted + Desire to work in a team-oriented environment. + Ability to use Microsoft Office suite is a must. The estimated salary range for this position is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
