*SUMMARY:* We are currently seeking a *Laboratory Assistant* to join our team. This full-time role will work days (8:00 – 4:30 PM), including every 3rd Saturday (hours TBD on Saturdays). *Purpose of this position:*Under general supervision, performs work that involves collecting and/or processing laboratory specimens, entering data into the electronic health record (EHR) and/or the laboratory information system (LIS). Interacts and communicates with patients, their families, and members of the healthcare team by using various communication tools in a timely and professional manner *_RESPONSIBILITIES:_* *Anatomic Pathology* * Assists in maintaining supplies and helping with inventory * Supports quality improvement initiatives and lean processes * Accession specimens according to standard procedures in the laboratory information system * Properly identifies, labels, processes, and distributes specimens using standard protocol * Responds appropriately to internal and external customer needs and communicates any problems or issues to them * Assists with pathology send-outs * Assists with instrument maintenance * Digital slide scanning * Assist Cytology with procedures on the floor *QUALIFICATIONS:* /**/ /*Minimum Qualifications:*/ * High school diploma or GED -OR- * An approved equivalent combination of education and experience /*Preferred Qualifications:*/ * Certified or certified-eligible with a nationally accredited phlebotomy association -OR- * Completion of ten quarter credits of biology or chemistry college courses -OR- * Six Months of experience in a clinical laboratory setting /*Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:*/ * Customer Service skills **Title:** *Laboratory Assistant - Surg Path/Cytology/Histology Lab* **Location:** *MN-Minneapolis-Downtown Campus* **Requisition ID:** *242431*
