Laboratory Associate (Jeurissen Lab)

The Jeurissen Lab at NYU's Center for Neural Science is searching for a full-time laboratory associate to join their team. The person(s) hired will be involved in all aspects of experimental procedures, including setting up equipment, programming custom software, installing hardware for behavioral testing of animals, and performing experiments.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing behavioral experiments and training animals
- Programming custom software for behavioral experiments
- Programming custom software for data analysis
- Analyzing behavioral data
- Analyzing eye tracking data
- Analyzing electrophysiology data from high-density in-vivo recordings
- Behavioral training and testing of research animals
- Handling large animals and preparing them for experiments
- Routine health care procedures, animal care, husbandry, and technical assistance of veterinary staff, research technicians, and researchers
- Maintaining detailed and accurate logs about food and water intake for animals.
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Interacting and coordinating with investigative staff and veterinary services staff to assure health and welfare of animals.
- Assisting and interacting with investigative staff to meet their research needs.
- Compliance with relevant regulations, guidelines, and policies.
- Confers with faculty periodically to evaluate new equipment and methods.
- Assists investigators with appropriate treatments for research animals.
- Organizing the lab, placing and tracking orders, maintaining schedules, stocking supplies
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
In your cover letter, please describe your experience with analyzing data, proficiency in specific coding languages, and experience in setting up hardware/equipment in a laboratory environment or similar. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $58,656 - $62,500. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
A bachelor of science degree in neuroscience, biology or a related field is required.
