Fairview is looking for a casual Laboratory Care Technician (LCT) at different locations including M Health Fairview Clinic - Brooklyn Park, M Health Fairview Clinic - Bass Lake, M Health Fairview Clinic - Rogers and M Health Fairview Clinic - Elk River. Primary hours vary between 7:00am and 6:00pm. These are 8-hour shifts. Schedule is subject to change to meet staffing needs, including floating to other nearby clinics. Working with diverse populations within a healthcare environment, the LCT plays an important role in providing quality, proficient and professional services in keeping with Fairview Values as they interact with our patients, families and co-workers. The LCT performs laboratory specimen collection at various Fairview or outreach locations, as well as, provides for safe and secure specimen handling and point of care testing. Responsible for accurately entering orders and collection information into the Laboratory Information System and associated subsystems; monitoring computer logs for incomplete work; scheduling tests/procedures and providing results in LIS/HIS and over the phone, the LCT's attention to detail and accuracy are the foundation for our providing quality laboratory services. Working as an individual or team member, the LCT continuously works towards providing quality service improvement and optimum support to the department and team members in achieving Fairview's goals. Job expectations include: Following established guidelines to obtain specimens and perform procedures, prioritizing work to achieve optimal patient outcomes, information Processing, maintaining a safe work environment, demonstrating ability to deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served. Other duties may be assigned. Required At least 18 years of age High School diploma/GED BLS certification within 90 days of hire Education Completion of a formal phlebotomy education program OR- Completion of three months of full-time clinical phlebotomy and laboratory experience OR- Enrollment in MLT or MLS program, including completion of a phlebotomy course. Preferred Prior laboratory experience in a hospital or clinic setting in a similar capacity Additional Requirements Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations. Ability to exercise independent judgment. Demonstrate manual dexterity. Demonstrates competence and proficient skills in collecting blood samples.
